OUR PROCESS
How We Build Every Driveway & Access Road
1. Site Evaluation & Layout
We walk the proposed route with you, evaluating the terrain, natural drainage, soil conditions, and any obstacles. We'll recommend the best path, width, and surface type for your needs and budget.
2. Clearing & Rough Grading
We clear trees, brush, and existing vegetation from the road corridor, then rough grade the route to establish the basic shape and slope of the road.
3. Sub-Base Preparation
This is where most roads succeed or fail. We cut to the proper depth, remove soft or unstable material, and install a compacted sub-base that will support the road surface for years to come.
4. Culvert Installation
Where water crosses the road path, we install properly sized culverts to manage drainage and prevent washouts. Getting culvert placement and sizing right is critical to road longevity.
5. Surface Installation & Final Grade
We install your chosen road surface — gravel, crushed stone, or road base — and establish the final crown and grade to shed water off the road surface. The finished road is smooth, properly sloped, and ready for use.

What's the best material for a gravel driveway in Kentucky?
Crushed limestone is one of the most popular and effective choices for driveways and access roads in Central Kentucky. It compacts well, drains properly, and holds up to vehicle traffic over time. We'll recommend the right material and depth based on your specific use case.
How wide should a driveway or farm road be?
A standard residential driveway is typically 10–12 feet wide. Farm roads that need to accommodate large equipment are usually 14–16 feet or more. We'll size the road appropriately based on what needs to use it.
