WHAT IS LAND CLEARING & FORESTRY MANAGEMENT?
Turning Unusable Land Into Opportunity
Land clearing is the process of removing trees, brush, stumps, and other vegetation from a property to prepare it for development, agriculture, or other use. Forestry management goes a step further — it involves strategically thinning, trimming, and maintaining timber stands to improve the health, productivity, and safety of wooded land.
At Kentucky Legacy Construction, we handle both. Whether you're clearing a half-acre lot for a new home or managing 50 acres of timberland, our crew has the equipment and experience to do the job right — efficiently and responsibly.

OUR PROCESS
How We Approach Every Land Clearing Project
1. Property Walkthrough
We walk the property with you to understand exactly what needs to be cleared, what should be preserved, and any obstacles or sensitivities — like proximity to property lines, water features, or structures — that need to be accounted for.
2. Clearing Plan
We develop a plan that prioritizes efficiency while protecting the areas you want untouched. For larger forestry projects, we also map out access routes for equipment to minimize ground disturbance.
3. Vegetation & Tree Removal
We remove trees, brush, and undergrowth using the right combination of equipment — feller bunchers, mulching heads, chainsaws, and dozers, depending on the size and density of the project.
4. Stump Grinding & Root Removal
Stumps are ground down below grade so the land is fully usable — no obstacles, no regrowth, no tripping hazards for equipment or foot traffic.
5. Debris Hauling & Site Cleanup
Debris Hauling & Site Cleanup
All cleared material is either hauled off-site or processed on the property if you prefer mulch or chips. We leave the site clean and ready for your next phase.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common Questions About Land Clearing
How much does land clearing cost?
Cost depends on the size of the area, the density of vegetation, terrain difficulty, and whether stumps need to be removed. We provide free, on-site estimates so you get an accurate number specific to your property — not a generic price per acre.
Do I need a permit to clear land in Kentucky?
It depends on the size of the project, location, and proximity to waterways or wetlands. Some clearing projects trigger erosion control or stormwater permit requirements. We're familiar with local regulations across Central Kentucky and can help you understand what's needed before we start.
Can you clear land without damaging the surrounding trees?
Yes. Selective clearing is one of our specialties. We can remove specific trees and vegetation while carefully preserving what you want to keep — including mature trees near property lines or structures.
What happens to the trees and debris after clearing?
We can haul all material off-site, chip it into mulch for use on your property, or pile it for you to burn if local ordinances allow. We'll discuss the best option for your project during the estimate.
How long does land clearing take?
A standard residential lot can typically be cleared in a day or two. Larger acreage projects vary depending on terrain and density. We'll give you a realistic timeline when we assess the site.
